Early Detection Makes the Difference
Our general, family and cosmetic dentistry services extend beyond actual dental procedures. Dr. Sandhu strongly believes in the value of patient education. That’s why she will use images from an intraoral camera to explain everything that’s going on inside your mouth, and talk with you about how to maintain your dental health between visits.
Dr. Sandhu knows that early detection of periodontal problems or neuromuscular issues can be pivotal to preventing even more severe dental and medical health problems. When you visit our Crystal Lake dental office for regular checkups, Dr. Sandhu can examine your entire mouth and bite alignment along with your teeth and gums. This is just one way that we strive to build lasting relationships with our patients.

Common Dental Problems
As an experienced and skilled general dentist, Dr. Sandhu prevents, diagnoses and treats common dental problems, such as:
- Inflamed gums
- Gum recession
- Sensitive teeth
- Bad breath
- Missing teeth
- Damaged teeth
- Tooth abscess
It's always advantageous to catch dental problems in their early stages. Reversal of problems and effective treatment is often easier and less invasive, and usually less expensive, in early stages. Your regular checkups and cleanings are important because, while the cleanings prevent dental problems, the exam allows Dr. Sandhu to check for early signs of dental disease.
Even if you haven't been to the dentist for some time, or think you may be experiencing a serious dental issue, you can rely on Dr. Sandhu for effective treatment. With advanced dental training at the Las Vegas Institute, and years of experience treating patients of all ages, Dr. Sandhu can help you get your oral health back on track.
General Dentistry Questions
Browse our answers below or contact our office for answers to your specific questions.
How can I prevent cavities? Stick to an effective at-home hygiene routine. Brush your teeth and floss every day. You can go a step further by considering the foods and beverages that heighten cavity risk: soda, candies, sweets. Enjoy these treats in moderation. Swish water in your mouth after drinking a soda. Doing so will prevent the soda from sitting on your teeth.
What is the right way to brush my teeth? Use a soft-bristled toothbrush, which is the gentlest on your gums and enamel. Use light pressure to brush all surfaces of the teeth – the chewing surfaces, and front and back of the teeth. Brush twice a day, for two minutes each time. Only gentle pressure is needed. A common mistake is to scrub and brush too forcefully, which can lead to gum recession and worn enamel.
How often should I floss? Flossing once daily is recommended. Use a long strand of floss so that you have a clean section for each tooth. Gently move the floss down the curve of each tooth all the way to the gum line. Make sure you floss around each tooth, including the molars at the back of your mouth.
When should my child have their first dental appointment? Within 6 months of the appearance of the first tooth, or no later than his or her first birthday. Childhood dental care is essential, even though baby teeth eventually fall out. It's important for those first teeth to stay healthy so that they can hold the space for the adult teeth. It's also important to prevent baby teeth cavities so that infection and inflammation does not spread to the gums and supporting bone. Rely on Dr. Sandhu to keep your children's teeth healthy and strong.
Do you offer dentistry tailored to any age? Yes, Dr. Sandhu treats patients of all ages. Your entire family can receive care under one roof, eliminating the inconvenience of traveling to multiple dental offices. Lifelong dental wellness is a goal we want to help each of our guests achieve.
